So this story is pretty short, I had put aside some shirts because they were too short, I mean my belly would always be showing (and I'm not even pregnant) or be cold because of this, they just become too uncomfortable. Luckily I didn't do anything with them until I came out with this idea of using two shirts to make a longer one and I had seen this shirt on TV with a triangle and I fell in love for it. So here's my version of it with instructions to do your own if you feel like it, I hope you enjoy it.
- Select 2 shirts with different shades and decide how would you like it best: lighter or darker on top? I made mine applying the darker shirt on the lighter one.
- Mark the shirt you will apply with chalk and a ruler to know where to cut the shirt, then sew the edges. To note that for this you will need front and back of the shirt so the new shirt will be longer, so it's just a matter of cutting the shirt. Also when marking don't forget to take into account the neck line, you want to be able to leave this part out.
- Mark the height on the shirt you didn't cut to point out where to sew the bottom shirt.
- Open the shirt you cut and fit it on the top one with pins.
- Now you are ready to sew the shirts together, I made this by hand, I was not confident with the machine for this part.
This was the final result:
I find it's a very original shirt but top that, even if used under a sweater it's much more comfortable because it's now longer, my belly is no longer cold in the winter :D
