Make up box

The main idea is to use materials instead of throwing them away, but one of these days I found a very cute wrapping paper and couldn't resist... I think you would agree.

I had a carton box that even closes and thought that it might be useful. I found out that it's perfect for the (small) amount of make up I have.

... this is how it looks like now!

Cups on wood?

So what was next? House warming party? I had to have some coasters...

All I needed was cardboard, some pretty pictures from a magazine or wrapping paper, transparent adhesive paper (or as an alternative a pretty adhesive paper), glue and scissors.

And the final result…

Empty pockets

Man refuse to wear purses, when leaving home they just put everything they need in their pockets. Problem is when coming home - they drop everything on the first flat surface they see…

I was getting tired of having all these pockets containing at the entrance. I wanted a recipient to put the keys, the coins, and stuff like that when we arrive home. I couldn't find one, until one day, when I looked better to this (it's a meat styrofoam package):

It was the perfect size and shape!

Here is the result!

Unfortunately it's usually fuller and we barely see the image... but it's serving its purpose! J

Recyclable pot pourri ;)

Today I was in the mood to recycle, as my boyfriend says, I had enough garbage in the house… I really don’t like when he says that, but sadly it's true... :D

Anyway, I decided to make a little decoration pot to put some rose petals and pine cones.

Two weeks ago my boyfriend offered me red roses, but it was so hot than they died right away, so I decided to let them dry and use them as decoration later on. The pines were from the garden of our Dutch teacher, I thought there were cute and she said that I could pick up as much as I wanted…

I used  the plastic package from a salad I bought the other day and the paper bag from the fruit I bought at the market.

And here is the result!

We are born to make stars :D

The expat association I'm volunteering for, is celebrating several foreign holidays. The next one is the 4th of July (America Independence Day).

I was asked to help with the decorations, as we don't have quotes yet we have to keep it simple and cheap.

This was what I thought:
- Hang red and white t-shirts and blue jeans alternately
- Do some stars with carton and foil paper and hang them together with the red and white clothing

I did a five pointed star with just card board and covered it with foil paper from the coffee packages.

Note: the tin can was used only because I didn't have a compass...

Cables on the loose?

When I fist came to live in The Netherlands I moved in with my boyfriend don't get me wrong - he is very tidy but being a software developer does make one's home look full of cables...

I saw something in a shop downtown that could help organizing the cables but I though I could do something similar myself with just a cardboard and a pair of scissors.

If you want to make it pretty you can wrap it a colorful paper afterwards and even cover with transparent plastic to protect it.

I also made a smaller one for our headphones.
